Key Facts
  • Real time capability for echo generation
  • Frequency coverage up to 40 GHz with one single generator and analyzer
  • Excellent RF performance of R&S®SMW200A signal generator and R&S®FSW signal and spectrum analyzer
  • Baseband flexibility of R&S®SMW200A (e.g. add interferers and noise)
  • No external PC necessary
  • Intuitive and easy to use graphical user interface

Brief Description The R&S®SMW-K78 radar echo generation option, in conjunction with the R&S®SMW200A vector signal generator and the R&S®FSW spectrum and signal analyzer, makes it possible to artificially generate radar signal echoes. These tests can be performed via a wired connection (conducted test) or via the air interface (over the air test), eliminating much of the need for time-consuming and costly field tests.

Test setups radar under test (RUT) is directly connected to the R&S®SMW200A (+ R&S®FSW) via cable conducted test
RUT and R&S®SMW200A (+ R&S®FSW) are equipped with antennas and connected via air interface over-the-air (OTA) test
Radar RX power setting calculation of power received by RUT regarding two-way radar equation radar equation
power received by RUT is set manually manual
Simulation setup
System latency calibration R&S®SMW-K78 measures the internal system (R&S®FSW + R&S®SMW200A) latency automatically (only available in transmit signal mode: external baseband via R&S®FSW + R&S®SMW-B10) automatic
user measures internal latency with external equipment (e.g. scope) manual
Object configuration
